Planning a Journey

There are a number of great options available for those looking to plan a journey by public transport. There’s no need to spend time flicking through timetables to figure out which services work best for you – online journey planners do all that for you!

Below are some of our recommendations for planning a journey in and around Dublin.

Paying for a Journey

There are a number of ways to pay for your journey by public transport in Dublin. Which one suits you best will depend upon how often you travel, however, it’s important to get it right as there are some significant savings to be made.

We’d recommend avoiding paying in cash for bus travel, as you’ll need the correct change, with no notes accepted and no change given.

You can use your contactless card or mobile device on the majority of bus services in the local area, making the occasional journeys by bus really easy. You can also purchase and store train tickets on your mobile, using handy travel apps.

If your journey is more regular, however, then you could be making some serious savings on season tickets rather than one off payments. We’ve created a handy ticket guide for Dublin to help you figure out the best ticket for you!
